Caracas.- Unos pocos días nos separan de la II válida de Gatorade de este año, cuya salida/llegada será en las inmediaciones del Parque del Este, con un recorrido por las calles y avenidas del municipio Sucre.
Muchos han sido los corredores que en las semanas recientes se han visto los domingos “pateando la ruta”, con el fin de familiarizarse con sus elevados, descensos y subidas. Es un recorrido algo exigente en la segunda parte, luego del retorno en el Unicentro El Marqués, no solo por la inclinación ascendente de la avenida Francisco de Miranda en el tramo La California-Los Ruices sino por los dos elevados que deberán enfrentar los competidores.
Este tipo de evento suele reunir a muchas personas sin experiencia, incluso, tal vez esta sea la primera carrera de algún participante, por lo que bien vale la pena compartir estos ocho consejos.
Aquí va el primero. Deja todo listo el sábado en la noche. No esperes el domingo para seleccionar la ropa y menos para ajustar el dorsal a la franela. Eso no debe ser una preocupación esa mañana.
El clima del domingo puedo asegurarte que no será parecido al que se vivió en Boston el 16 de abril, con bajas temperaturas y ráfagas de viento alrededor de 40 kilómetros por hora. Todo lo contrario. Es muy seguro que haya que correr a unos 24 grados, por lo que conviene usar ropa ligera. No se les ocurra estrenar zapatos.
Una tercera recomendación es que, a pesar de que la salida está prevista para las 7:00 a.m. , bien vale la pena madrugar ese día e ingerir unos 90 minutos antes el desayuno habitual precarrera.
A diferencia de un maratón, las carreras de 10K son algo explosivas, donde se sale a montar un paso desde las primeras de cambio, por lo que se aconseja calentar unos 20 minutos muy suavemente y realizar unas seis carreritas de 80-100 metros para activar las fibras musculares.
Mi quinto tip. En competencia es fundamental cuidar el ritmo. Dejarlo todo en los primeros kilómetros podría propiciar no tener fuerza para enfrentar los elevados de Los Ruices y de los Dos Caminos al final. O si se monta un paso muy conservador es posible que la distancia no sea lo suficientemente larga para que puedas superar tus expectativas.
Aprovecha al máximo tanto el agua como el Gatorade que han dispuesto los organizadores. No dejes que la sed se haga presente y recuerda que las bebidas deportivas ayudan a reestablecer las pérdidas de electrolitos como sodio y potasio.
Al llegar a la meta evita saltar para pisar la alfombra o pararte en forma repentina, porque pueden generar alguna lesión.
Como estoy seguro que lo vas a dar todo en esta válida, recompénsate con un buen desayuno que permita reponer las pérdidas de líquidos y de glucógeno.
